As always, there
was a lot of ground covered at the ApHC Board of Directors meeting held last
weekend at Bedford, TX. There are a few things of note:
- Regional Experience
Shows - Keep watching the ApHC website for the announcement of the
Regional Experience. This will be a pilot program in 2010 for 3 shows chosen by
a list of criteria (to be posted on the website) and is expected to expand in
2011 to 18 shows (one in each zone in the US). The bare bones are: program
limited to regional clubs only; preference to struggling clubs/areas/states in
terms of registrations, transfers, memberships; preference given to 2 or more
clubs combining forces; showbill must include 5 or more All-Breed YOUTH
classes; ALL youth classes show free (both entries and national point
fees). The ApHC will help support the show by providing $2400 for 2 judges
expenses. The show can have 2-4 judges. Deadline for 2010
application is 4/15/10. Don't miss out!!
- Novice Youth by Class has passed it's first vote.
It closely resembles the Novice Non-Pro program: max of 20 points in each class
prior to pointing out; all points tabulated on Jan 1 of each year. This will be
voted on a 2nd time at the Nationals BOD meeting for inclusion in the 2011
rulebook.
- Novice Youth Ownership Proposal - This proposal
passed it's first vote (2nd will be at the Nationals BOD meeting for the
inclusion in the 2011 rulebook). Under this proposal, ALL points irregardless
of horse ownership earned in Novice Youth will be counted toward Novice Youth
eligibility. However, any points earned on non-family owned horses will not be
counted towards the Year-End Awards or Lifetime Achievement Awards.
- Registration Rule Change - This proposal has
currently passed it's 2nd vote for inclusion in the 2011 rulebook. It is very
important to note what it will allow:
* QH x QH DNA parentage verified
horses with characteristics or coat pattern will qualify for FULL registration
in the ApHC * ANY combination of QH, TB or Arab parentage verified horses
that have charateristics or coat pattern will qualify for FULL registration in
the ApHC * Two (N) registered parents that produce a colored foal - that
foal will be allowed to be registered * (N) x QH/TB/Arab that produce a
colored foal - foal will be allowed to be registered.
- Fee changes will take place next year for:
*
Stallion reports $25 + $5 * Rush - 48 Hour $100, 10 day $50 * Lease -
$20 * Non Appaloosa DNA listing fee - $20 * Approved Outcross Listing -
$20 * HYPP testing $50 * Blood Typing $125 * Tattoo Fee $20
- Performance Permit Program - This proposal will
shift the fee increase from 13 months of age up to 25 months of age. No changes
in fees were discussed. This passed it's first vote with the 2nd vote scheduled
for the Nationals BOD meeting.
